Lessons learned from the CLASP initiative to support Indigenous health and wellness

In this 2017 report, learn about the participation of Indigenous communities in seven CLASP projects (Coalitions Linking Action and Science for Prevention) for preventing cancer and chronic diseases

Coalitions Linking Action and Science for Prevention (CLASP) brought together organizations from two or more provinces and territories. Research, practice, and policy experts formed coalitions to combine cancer prevention with strategies for preventing other chronic diseases.

Seven of the CLASP projects worked with Indigenous communities and organizations. One of those projects was led by a First Nations organization.

This report shares the lessons learned from the following seven CLASP projects for individuals and organizations working with First Nations, Inuit and Métis:

  1. Acceleration
  2. Building on Existing Tools to Improve Chronic Disease Prevention and Screening in Primary Care (BETTER)
  3. Collaborative Action on Childhood Obesity (CACO)
  4. Health Empowerment for You (HEY!)
  5. Nourishing School Communities
  6. POWER Up!
  7. Working on Wellness
