March 1, 2011
In this video, John talks about how he coped and what he learned
Watch as John talks about being a 23-year cancer survivor and can still recall his reaction to his diagnosis of stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
He also talks about sharing stress with his wife, and dealing with reactions from his friends and mom. He also shares what he learned from having and surviving cancer.
John works as a financial advisor. He is a husband, father and grandfather.
When you get the news you actually feel visibly shorter. I know the meaning of the word ‘crushed’ from this experience because I felt inches shorter in stature.

The Partnership’s Person-Centred Perspective initiative is committed to improving the patient experience. We are working with partners across Canada to find the best ways to offer a person-centred perspective throughout a person’s cancer journey and to help information flow throughout. The impact of a cancer diagnosis goes far beyond the physical disease. It affects every aspect of a person’s life. The initiative has focused on reporting about the patient experience, and giving health-care providers patient-centred tools and resources, which have been validated and standardized.
