About this report
See data visualizations about the impact of lung cancer screening programs in Canada.
Organized lung cancer screening program with low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) has been shown to reduce lung cancer mortality and is now recommended for high-risk individuals. In addition to early detection of lung cancer, an organized lung cancer screening program provides an opportunity to help current smokers quit and to support those who have recently quit.
Using OncoSim-Lung, an analysis was conducted to project the lifetime impact of lung cancer screening in Canada for a cohort of individuals eligible for screening in the next 20 years (2022-2041). The Partnership had conducted modeling analysis to support provinces and territories develop a business case and plan the implementation of organized lung cancer screening.
