Alan was diagnosed with cancer at age 41. In this video, he speaks about the shock of receiving his diagnosis. He and his partner, Tyler, talk about the importance of community support, including social media.
Alan is a band councillor for St. Mary’s First Nation in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
I knew my body was going to go through a medical transition and it needed to fight this cancer. So, I needed to do everything to my body to make sure it was ready for it. Because my body had no idea what was about to happen. Neither did I.
