About the Network
Health equity is a key pillar of Canada’s health care system and is a cornerstone of the Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control, which identifies the importance of international partnerships in advancing cancer control both in Canada and internationally. Organizations and institution across Canada are committed to addressing global cancer control in access and disparities. However, awareness and understanding of the scope and breadth of these activities across the country has, to-date, been limited.
The development of Canadian Global Cancer Network is the first step to develop a collaborative national approach to global cancer control, to learn from each other, and to maximize the impact of our collective efforts.

To develop a pan-Canadian approach to global cancer control that facilitates effective and ethical partnerships, strengthens capacity in cancer control systems, and positions cancer within the Canadian global health agenda.

Canadian Global Oncology Workshop
In November 2020, the initial Canadian Global Oncology Workshop was held to facilitate a multisectoral discussion among Canadian leaders in global cancer control. The workshop was envisaged as a first step to realizing a Canadian collaborative network in global oncology and developing a pan-Canadian strategy for global cancer control.
Annual workshops are held to continue to connect Canadians with interest in global oncology, facilitate bi-directional engagement. and discuss initiatives in research, education, advocacy, and policy.

2022
Through this important initiative, we hope to highlight the disparities in cancer care globally and provide unique international perspectives.
2021
In 2021, the Queen’s Global Oncology Program was proud to host the Canadian Global Oncology Workshop. Over 150 participants from around the world attended a dynamic two-day virtual workshop.
2020
The Princess Margaret Global Cancer Program and the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer hosted the first annual Canadian Global Oncology Workshop. This event brought together 112 participants.
