May 30, 2013
The 2013 edition of Canadian Cancer Statistics, recently released by the Canadian Cancer Society, provides updated estimates of the state of cancer in Canada, with a special focus on liver cancer. Liver cancer is one of the cancers increasing the fastest in Canada, a trend the Partnership documented in its 2012 System Performance Report.
The 2013 statistics publication estimates that 187,600 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in Canada this year, more than half of which will be prostate, breast, lung and colorectal cancers. Read Canadian Cancer Statistics 2013.
